Washington Hills

Has a delicious late harvest sweet Chardonnay. I choose this wine by having a bad day and looking for a great tasting wine with high alcohol content. Too my surprise this wine is way more than I expected. It boasts a honey suckle sweet taste. And a alc content of 12.5%. Just what momma needed! They also have a sweet Merlot which I will be tasting very soon. Cheers!!

Uncork the Fun

At Great Grapes wine festival in Hunt Valley MD this weekend. I love this festival because its all about the fermented grapes. There is plenty of free parking and a huge playground for the kids. My absolute favorite part of this fest is the wine and cheese pairing. They actually have a cheese tent where for 2 bucks you can load up as much cheese on one plate. Yummy! I'll be sure to get a picture of the cheese plates. Hopefully I can score an interview with one of the winery owners. Hope to see you there!   http://www.uncorkthefun.com/hunt-valley-maryland/site-info

Kali's Court

Kali's Court is a spectacular restaurant in Fell Point Baltimore. The atmosphere is so relaxing and unique. Definitely different from the usual party scene in Fells Point. I took a seat at the bar which felt like a romantic scene from Casablanca. All that was missing was the piano. Even better was the music that was playing. I ordered a glass of their Rosé. It was so delish. I was so occupied that I forgot to ask for the name of the wine that i was sipping. All and all I had a great time. Will return to Kali's for sure. Cheers!!

Visit to V-NO Wine Bar

On Friday I took a trip to the V-NO Wine Bar in Fells Point. They have a wide selection of wines to choose from. The place was a little packed leaving no where to sit. So I just took a couple pictures and talked to the very nice staff. Check out the pics and tell me what you think.

Naked and Unoaked

I'm not sure if I have written about Four Vines Unoaked Chardonnay but it is so very tasty I feel it's ok to keep talking about. I love the fresh flavor of peaches and floral. This wine is not aged in oak barrels so it does not have that nutty flavor. Check out my pics! I got an awesome shot of the back of the bottle which gives great info on the wine. Cheers!

Wine in the Woods- Blog One

I don't know about you wine lovers but I am overly excited about the upcoming event here in Maryland called the Wine in the Woods. There are about 3 days left until this monumental event. I will be there this weekend covering all of the wonderful joy of the festival. I will be blogging about the food, wine, people, music, and wine educational seminars. Stay posted so that you don't miss anything. In order to get ready for the party, the sponsors of the event have created an app strictly for the wine in the woods. Yes..... there's an app for this, lol. You can find out more information on the event as well as download the app (like I did) on their website http://www.wineinthewoods.com/. Hope to see you there!!!

Collectibles that beat the stock market

*Article courtesy msn money

Even people who don’t know the difference between rose and cabernet have heard of Chateau Lafite Rothschild. Demand from emerging markets is boosting the value of many vintages of this iconic French maker.

"For years, a 1982 Chateau Lafite Rothschild was valued at $500 a bottle," said Frank Martel, director of fine wine for Heritage Auctions. "Suddenly it catapulted to averages of $50,000 for a case for a while and has now settled down to about $42,000 -- or more than $3,300 a bottle." That’s a difference of 600%.

A Reason To Wine

I was at the Decanter wine event and came across this fabulous stand that sold gorgeous wine stoppers. For the Diva in me, I fell in love with the stiletto shoe bottle toppers. But that's not all this little store sold. There were beer bottle openers, swizzle sticks, cork screws and more. Check out the web page for more http://www.areasontowine.net/index.html. Happy Shopping!!

Wine Grapes: Viognier

This lush white from the French Rhone Valley is Syrah’s sister grape and one of the few white grapes that grows well in warmer climates. Its wines are rich and aromatic with pronounced notes of apricot and peach, often coupled with floral notes of orange blossom and honey.

Wine Grapes: Cabernet Franc

This French varietal is used primarily used to lend acidity and to fine Bordeaux-style blends. I have just started drinking Cabernet Franc and...... "me like"!

Wine Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon made its way from France in the mid-19th century. This grape ranges in style from simple, fruity, friendly wines that are great for informal occasions such as picnics, casual get-togethers, or Wednesday night dinner, to big, bold blockbusters full of luscious concentrated fruit and plenty of “wow factor.” This fermented grape will always be my favorite.
